I can't stop thinking about Behavioral Addictions right now

In the last 10 years we created a generation of young people with behavioral addictions. I think the media's "young people these days" articles are about the consequences of growing up with behavioral addictions.

We viscerally understand the disadvantages of a child bound to a wheelchair, or other disability, but behavioral addictions robs a child of their youth, the ability to put time into the things that lead to career growth and will let them escape poverty after age 20.
I lived more or less in poverty from highschool to my second job.
If I was the living embodiment of the "Far Side" comic where parents were imagining a newspaper want ad full of ads looking for people to "Save the Princess for $$$"--then I would have stalled out at $45k salary (in an expensive part of the world)
Anyhow, my thinking is influence by this video covering the video game addiction problem in China, Korea and Japan and what the government have done there to attempt to address it.
