Enterprise architecture is a scam. Either
- It is a made up role for nontechnical senior management to sabotage the organization with capricious decisions unmoored by any connection to reality.
- It is made of powerless technical people that would be of more help in a role where they could effect anything.
Self-replies
When a non-technical senior manager becomes an Architect, they need to demonstrate that they are in control and powerful by occasionally issuing a random decree, the equivalent of dictator showing how powerful they are by tearing down and building new monuments, except these are the mission critical applications of the organization.
Anyhow, this is just social degeneracy, when we look at this state of things and convince ourselves that this is the way are, the way they should be. Architects will sabotage the enterprise and we'll cheer them on for job protection until the company goes down the toilet.
